YINON GAL-ON

Born in Tel-Aviv, Yinon Gal-On graduated in 2021 from the School of Creative Thinking and the Arts in Tel-Aviv with a specialization in cinema. Yinon has received numerous international photography recognition, including the Budapest International Photography Awards (BIFA), the Paris PX3 Prix De La Photographie, the Chromatic Photography Awards, and the New York International Photography Awards (IPA).

Yinon Gal-On has been exploring for more than a decade the space between physical and metaphysical presence, the gaps between the Breath and the Soul, documenting moments of floating emotions. Underwater, Yinon strives to capture the inner thoughts, deep memories, hidden pain and pleasure that exist beyond the visual or the tangible.

The water is a quiet space for inner connection, where one disconnects from external stimulations:  noises are silenced, the ability to breathe and see is taken away, and all that remains is to connect with your thoughts and feelings.

Yinon's video art works are an invitation to silence, to pause for a moment, to breathe and to overflow with happiness. Inner happiness and visual happiness.

Artist Statement

"I would like to invite you to dive with me underwater and experience a zone of silence, intimacy and connection. Water and nature neutralize the noises and allow the quiet space to connect internally and overflow with sincere emotions.

For as long as I can remember I have connected with my emotions best underwater. When the camera came into my life at the age of seven, I felt I had found the way to express my emotional world. This is where my creative process began from which I grew and developed as a person.

Water has the power of acceptance and healing. The truth floats in the water and sets you free.

Underwater I feel I'm moving between reality and imagination, between the visible and the hidden, between the physical and the spiritual and so I see these works as a range between the realistic and the surreal."
